Consumer Math: Price Comparing Winn-Dixie and Publix

There seems to be a great deal of people who believe that they can't shop at Publix because they don't have much money!  Ha!  While I would never recommend buying items at Publix that are not on sale, they do have the hands-down best prices on Buy One, Get One Free deals in our area. 

Here's a quick comparison on items that both Publix and Winn-Dixie are advertising in their flyers this week.

Pace Chunky Salsa 16 oz jar (Both stores are BOGO)
Winn-Dixie: $3.29 for two
Publix: $2.79 for two

Mt. Olive Pickles, 16 to 46 oz jars (Both stores are BOGO)
Winn-Dixie: $3.79
Publix: $2.79

Knorr Side Dishes, Assorted Varieties
Winn-Dixie:  10 for $10 or $1.00 each
Publix: BOGO for $1.29 or $0.65 each

Rotel Diced Tomatoes
Winn-Dixie:  10 for $10 or $1.00 each
Publix:  BOGO for $1.39 or $.69 each
Wal-mart:  $.88 each

Nabisco Crackers (BOGO Both Stores)
Winn-Dixie:  $3.69
Publix: $2.99

Hungry-Man Frozen Dinners (BOGO Both Stores)
Winn-Dixie:  $4.39
Publix:  $3.59


So if I went to each store and bought 4 of each item I would pay (without coupons)
Winn-Dixie:  $36.42
Publix:  $29.68

If you saved that much each week by going to Publix you would save over $350 in one year!
